Picking Up the Pieces is the 2021 Bachelor of Visual Arts Graduate Exhibition, featuring the work of seven student artists whose lives were upended by the global COVID-19 pandemic. Bravely embracing the uncharted waters of remote learning, these artists turned their bedrooms, kitchen tables, and backyards into makeshift studio spaces, creating works that memorialize their struggles and breakthroughs in a year of uncertainty. 

This exhibition is an exemplification of the student’s perseverance, internal reflection, and commitment to their individual artistic processes. Utilizing a limited range of materials, each artist created a new body of work focused within their disciplines of photography, film, painting, and sculpture. Each artist has risen to the occasion and dedicated themselves to Picking Up the Pieces, forging a path into the future for us all through their seminal artworks.
